Temporary Assistant Director/Case Management Coordinator/Next Step Case Manager

Just-A-Start House is presently seeking a full-time temporary Assistant Director/Case Management Coordinator/Next Step Case Manager to support the current Assistant Directors upcoming temporary leave. Just-A-Start is seeking a person to be trained on performing the duties and responsibilities related to this position as of mid to late February. Position is expected to begin early to mid March.

Just-A-Start House is a Teen Living Program serving young mothers and children.

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for keeping Program Director up to date of current shelter situations. Strategizes and plans smooth operation of program with Program Director and Assistant Director/Direct Service Coordinator. Supervises Case Management staff in weekly one-on-one supervision, in addition to regular monthly Case Management planning meetings. Supervises the practical and safe functioning of the shelter and remains available to respond to the needs of individual residents and to crisis. Co-facilitates group supervision meetings with staff. Coordinates and supervises record keeping. Assists with daily schedule, writing in daily log, monitoring residents’ school attendance and program requirements. Supervises assigned interns, providing orientation, work plans, direction, guidance, and regular supervision. Acts as a liaison with referring agencies including Department of Transitional Assistance and Department of Social Services. Conducts intakes with new residents.

Next Step Coordinator: Responsible to support the skill development of individual residents, and is available to respond to any crisis that may develop. Responsible for the orientation of new residents into the program. Works one-on-one and in groups with all the families to teach and role model parenting skills and alternative discipline methods, time management skills, self-advocacy skills, and other life skills. Work with residents in meeting educational requirements and goals. Assists residents with securing permanent housing. Coordinates resident services. Maintains resident files. Coordinates property maintenance. Knowledge of current resources for adolescents and children. Experience providing supervision preferred. Knowledge of welfare and social service systems. Experience with adolescents and families. Previous residential program experience preferred. Ability to teach and role model parenting and life skills. Experience with conflict resolution and crisis intervention. Sensitivity and knowledge of cultural differences. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong sense of boundaries, professionalism, and initiative. Ability to work independently and as a member of staff team. Personal qualities of humor, flexibility, warmth, and enthusiasm. Bachelor degree required,

Masters preferred. Valid MA driver’s license
